Ready to eat meats have been around for some time – but until recently were only available at the Supermarket Deli in a plastic bag which was messy, and often it had to be thrown out too soon as consumers were unsure of its life in the fridge. Hellers developed an innovative form of packaging which was a first for New Zealand - a clear-formed plastic Modified Air Pack, where a gas is used to preserve the meat for longer life, both in the supermarket and in the fridge. Hellers now have eleven delicious Pre-Packed meat varieties that are 95-97% fat-free and can be found in the dairy deli chiller in the supermarket or hanging on the wall above the chiller alongside salamis and other smallgoods.
