Moroccan Lamb – Sensational Thins

Lamb is used extensively throughout traditional Moroccan dishes and flavours have long been based around the combination of mixing savoury and sweet ingredients together. Rich flavours like cumin and coriander are used in most dishes.

Hellers Moroccan Lamb sausage is a rich, meaty, savoury sausage with a hidden sweet burst from the addition of raisins. Filled into a long thin casing so that it cooks and caramelises easily, locking in the flavours. Maybe these will be the next big winner?

Merguez (pronounced mer-gez) – Sensational Thins

Merguez originated in North Africa, were adapted by the French and are now one of the more popular varieties throughout France.

Hellers Merguez is made from a 50 / 50 blend of beef and pork flavoured with notes of chilli and paprika, rounded with cumin and garlic to produce a mildly spiced sausage. Filled into a long thin casing for the complete European experience with a Kiwi twist. These would impress any judge.

Nuremberg – Sensational Thins

The Nuremberg styled bratwurst is one of the most popular varieties in Germany and as its name suggests, originated in Nuremberg. This traditional German pork based sausage is often grilled or roasted and is best served with potato salad or sauerkraut.

Hellers Nuremberg is made from 100% Pork and flavoured with the more traditional notes of pepper and marjoram. It also has subtle flavour overtones of ginger, nutmeg and caraway.

Call Security! Crowds go bangers at the Ellerslie Flower Show

Hellers’ stand at the Ellerslie Flower Show was definitely the most popular food stop – so popular that the organisers needed to assign a designated crowd control official to the stand!

Learning a lot from our first Ellerslie show last year, we decided to incorporate the senior management and supervisors from the Christchurch factory along with the sales and marketing team to man the stand. All up there were 63 different staff shifts over the 6 days of Ellerslie. Everyone that worked made an outstanding effort. While it was intense at times, there was no backing off and everyone got stuck in and enjoyed it.

It was great for the guys that do not normally have day-to-day interaction with the end consumer to see how popular the products we all produce really are.

At Ellerslie visitors consumed:

• 25,000 Hellers Sausage Samples
• Bought 1,300 trays of Hellers new flavours
• Moroccan Lamb was the most popular
• Consumers loved the fact that these sausages are gluten free, and contain no soy, dairy or MSG.
